John Jensen Named to Whitewater Student Government Executive Board

2012 Oct 9

John Jensen from Burlington, Wis., is helping to govern the more than 12,000 students who attend UW-Whitewater.

Jensen, a junior political science major, was recently named to the Whitewater Student Government (WSG) executive board.

WSG's role is to actively assess and serve the needs of UW-Whitewater students by providing an open forum atmosphere as well as being a bridge between students, student leaders and campus administration.

"Many students don't realize the impact WSG has on this campus," said Jan Bilgen, WSG adviser. "This executive board works directly with the chancellor, helping to make every decision from menu options to building remodels, like the University Center."

The process of being selected for the WSG executive board isn't easy. After applying, candidates must participate in comprehensive interviews with the president, vice president and the WSG senate.

"We are really looking for the best of the best. These board members hold themselves to higher expectations and want to represent the students of UW-Whitewater in a professional way," said Bilgen.
