Germantown's Fleischman Tabbed Academic All-American for UW-Whitewater Baseball

Blake Fleischman, a native of Germantown, WI, graduate of Germantown High School and junior on the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater baseball team, has been selected to the Academic All-America Division III Baseball second team by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Fleischman, a first baseman and graduate of Germantown High School, is the Warhawks' first Academic All-American since 2015, when Mikole Pierce was named to the third team. He currently carries a 4.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale and is majoring in chemistry.

To be eligible for the honor, student-athletes must have garnered Academic All-District accolades earlier this month. Student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 GPA at his current institution, must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games at the position they are nominated or pitched at least 10 innings and must have completed one full calendar year at his institution and reached sophomore athletic eligibility.

Fleischman helped UW-Whitewater sweep the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season and tournament championships. The team finished with a 36-9 record, including a 17-3 mark in WIAC play, and hosted the Midwest Regional of the NCAA Division III Tournament.

The 2017 WIAC Position Player of the Year, Fleischman led the team in both doubles (11) and walks (20) and hit .309 during the season. He also collected six home runs and 31 runs batted in and drew 20 walks, which led the team.

Fleischman was also tabbed first team All-WIAC and D3baseball.com All-Midwest Region and third team American Baseball Coaches Association All-Midwest Region. He earned first team all-conference honors in 2016 and was selected to the Central Regional All-Tournament Team after helping the Warhawks reach the NCAA Championship round.

Fleischman qualified for the Dean's List in each of his semesters at UW-Whitewater and was a member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll for the 2015-16 academic year.
