Gabriela Morales appointed to SUFAC

2015 Apr 16

Gabriela Morales, a junior corporate health communications major from Elkhorn, Wis., has been named to the 2015 Segregated University Fee Allocation Committee at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

SUFAC decides how segregated university fees, which are included in every student's tuition, are allocated to student life, organizations and activities.

The committee includes members appointed by the dean of each college, along with representatives from the Residence Hall Association and Whitewater Student Government.

"SUFAC is by the students, for the students," said Brent Bilodeau, adviser of SUFAC. "Being on this committee is a significant responsibility, providing students the opportunity to gain skills in critical thinking and decision making that will benefit them throughout their careers."

The students involved with SUFAC have worked in other UW-Whitewater organizations and departments, including Residence Life and Career and Leadership Development.

This level of experience speaks to UW-Whitewater's commitment to student leadership and personal ownership, according to Bilodeau.

"Working with SUFAC has been a highlight of my career," Bilodeau said. "I am proud to work for a university that puts this responsibility, made possible by student fees, into the hands of the students to make decisions on their own."
