Gabriela Morales-Sanchez selected to 2015-16 UW-Whitewater SUFAC

2016 Feb 25

Gabriela Morales-Sanchez, a senior communication major from Elkhorn, Wis., is serving on the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater SUFAC (Segregated University Fee Allocation Committee).

SUFAC is responsible for allocating student fee money to enhance the student experience at UW-Whitewater. Campus organizations can receive funding to pay for educational trips and conferences, among other events.

SUFAC is composed of students from various campus organizations. There are three representatives from Whitewater Student Government, one representative from Residence Hall Association, one representative from each of the university's four colleges, one representative from the graduate school, one SUFAC intern who works with the budget office and one budget intern from the student involvement office. Along with the leadership opportunities that SUFAC offers, there are many responsibilities and real-life experiences that students gain from this committee.

"One of the most important things that SUFAC provides for students is extremely beneficial experience in critical thinking and analyzing. Students can take the knowledge they have learned through SUFAC and be able to apply it to a future job in budgeting," said Kane Poad, vice chair of SUFAC. "They also can apply critical thinking skills to everyday life and be able to make difficult decisions with much more confidence than they would have without the SUFAC experience."
