2016 Nov 3

Lauren Pfeifer, a native of Fort Atkinson, WI, and member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater volleyball team, has been named first team Academic All-District 6 by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Pfeifer, a corporate/health communication major, owns a cumulative grade point average of 3.88 on a 4.0 scale.

With her Academic All-District selection, Pfeifer is eligible to earn Academic All-America honors, which will be announced the week of Dec. 5.

Pfeifer helped the Warhawks win a share of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season championship, post a 25-6 record and earn the No. 1 seed in this week's WIAC Tournament. She leads the team and ranks sixth in the conference in kills (320 / 2.86 per set) and enters the postseason with 282 digs, 77 blocks and 34 service aces.

In 2015, Pfeifer garnered third team All-America accolades from the American Volleyball Coaches Association after leading UW-Whitewater to the WIAC Tournament title and a first round appearance in the NCAA Division Tournament. She is a three-time first team All-WIAC honoree and three-time all-region selection, and was the 2013 AVCA Midwest Region Freshman of the Year.

Off the court, Pfeifer is a three-time member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll and serves as the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee president and the Warhawk Leadership Academy's assistant director. She is an NCAA CHOICES Peer Mentor and is a part of several volunteer initiatives.

Pfeifer and the 11th-ranked Warhawks begin postseason play Thursday at 7 p.m. against No. 17 UW-Stevens Point in the WIAC Tournament semifinals at Kris Russell Volleyball Arena.
