Fort Atkinson Native Pfeifer Selected All-WIAC in Volleyball at UW-Whitewater

2016 Nov 3

Lauren Pfeifer, a native of Fort Atkinson, WI, and member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater volleyball team, was one of five Warhawks to garner All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference accolades for their performances during the 2016 season.

Senior setter Staci Hasler (Sheboygan Falls, Wis./Sheboygan Falls), senior outside hitter Lauren Pfeifer (Fort Atkinson, Wis./Fort Atkinson) and junior middle hitter Courtney Wagner (DeKalb, Ill./DeKalb) were named to the first team. Pfeifer is now a three-time first team honoree, while Hasler is a two-time first team pick.

Junior right side hitter Sydney Racky (Walworth, Wis./Big Foot) and sophomore libero Brittany Robinson (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) were tabbed honorable mention. Both are first time All-WIAC selections.

Robinson also earned a spot on the All-Defensive Team for the second consecutive season.

All five players helped the Warhawks win a share of the WIAC regular season championships and earn a No. 1 seed in this week's WIAC Tournament. UW-Whitewater enters the postseason with a 25-6 overall record and a No. 11 national ranking.

A 2015 honorable mention All-American, Hasler leads the team and ranks third in the conference with 981 assists (9.52 per set). She is currently 15 assists short of entering the program's top 10 all time in career assists.

Pfeifer, a 2015 third team All-American, leads the Warhawks and ranks sixth in the league with 320 kills (2.86 per set). She is also sixth in the conference in points (397.5 / 3.55 per set) and 15th in service aces (34).

Wagner leads the league in both hitting percentage (.319) and blocks (127 / 1.13 per set), and is ninth in kills (300 / 2.68 per set) and eighth in points (382 / 3.41 per set).

Racky is third in the WIAC in hitting percentage (.287) and 15th in kills (260 / 2.34 per set). Robinson is second in the conference in digs (525 / 4.69 per set) and third in service aces (47).

Wagner, Racky and Robinson each earned WIAC Player of the Week accolades once during the season.

Wagner was also selected as the team's representative on the WIAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

UW-Whitewater hosts No. 17 UW-Stevens Point Thursday at 7 p.m. in a WIAC Tournament semifinal at Kris Russell Volleyball Arena.

The winner of the match advances to Saturday's WIAC Tournament final at the highest remaining seed.
