2017 Mar 2

Leah Richter, a native of Fond du Lac, Wis., and graduate of Fond Du Lac High School, was one of 10 members of the eighth-ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's track and field team to garner All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference accolades based on top-three performances at last weekend's WIAC Indoor Championships.

Freshman Celeste Madda (Crystal Lake, Ill./Central) and the women's 4x400 relay team of freshman Abbie Felton (Burlington, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran), junior Enyo Amet (Racine, Wis./Prairie), senior Leah Richter (Fond du Lac, Wis./Fond du Lac), and senior Meredith Porter (Hales Corners, Wis./Whitnall) led the way with a pair of WIAC indoor titles for the Warhawks on Saturday.

Madda won her first WIAC indoor individual title in the 200 meter dash in a season's best time of 25.23. Her time in the 200 currently ranks her fifth in Division III.

The 4x400-meter relay team of Felton, Amet, Richter, and Porter won the relay title with a facility record time of 3:53.57 and currently rank No. 2 in Division III in the event.

Other top finishes for the Warhawks on Saturday included senior Amanda Strupp (Slinger, Wis./Slinger), who finished second in the weight throw with a toss of 57-00 (17.37 meters) to earn second team All-WIAC, and freshman Sydney Rossow (West Bend, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran), who placed third in the 60-meter hurdles in a new career-best time of 9.00 to garner honorable mention.

The Warhawk women were led on Friday with championship titles from seniors Meredith Porter (Hales Corners, Wis./Whitnall) and Leah Richter (Fond du Lac, Wis./Fond du Lac).

Richter won her first WIAC indoor individual title in the pole vault with a mark of 12-02.50 (3.72 meters).

In the 400 meter dash, Porter also won her first WIAC indoor individual title in a time of 56.97, a new UW-Stout facility record.

Junior Enyo Amet (Racine, Wis./Prairie) tied for third place for honorable mention in the high jump with a mark of 5-01.25 (1.56 meters), scoring 4.5 points towards the team score.

The team of freshman Hailey Van Ells (Greendale, Wis./Martin Luther), Abbie Felton (Burlington, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran), junior Monica Sweet (Franklin, Wis./Franklin), and freshman Miranda Slaback (Janesville, Wis./Parker) placed third in the distance medley relay in a time of 12:45.36 to score six points and garner All-WIAC honorable mention.

UW-Whitewater will compete in three last chance meets this weekend before starting the two-day NCAA Division III Indoor Championships on March 10 at North Central College in Naperville, Ill.
