Dylan Fischbach makes UW-Whitewater 2013-14 men's wheelchair basketball team

Dylan Fischbach, a freshman physical education major from Vermillion, S.D., has made the 2013-14 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's wheelchair basketball team.

With a diverse mix of experienced competitors and new freshmen, the team is aiming to increase performance of new players while highlighting the successes of returning veterans.

"With almost 2,000 fans at each home game, it's hard not to want to be on the team," said Jeremy Lade, head coach. "There's a great support system in place for all players, whether it's from people within the program or community members cheering in the stands."

When the players are not on the court, they are giving back to the community. The UW-Whitewater men's wheelchair basketball team devotes 15 hours of each player's time to community service, with past involvement including an active role in building the new children's playground on campus.

The Warhawks kick off the season at the American Collegiate Society for Adapted Athletics Tournament from Nov. 22-23 at Kachel Fieldhouse.
