Deluga, UW-Whitewater Women's Soccer Advance to NCAA Round of 16

2015 Nov 18

Payton Deluga, a native of Algonquin, IL, and communicative sciences and disorders major at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, is part of the Warhawks' women's soccer team, which has advance to the NCAA Division III Tournament Round of 16 for the second time in school history.

UW-Whitewater (19-4) hosted the first two rounds of the national tournament last weekend. The Warhawks downed Carroll 1-0 in the first round before posting a 2-0 victory over Wheaton (Ill.), their first win over the Thunder in program history, in Saturday's second round.

UW-Whitewater will head to Washington University in St. Louis, Mo., this weekend, where it will face Illinois Wesleyan Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Central Time.

The winner of that match will face the winner of the Wartburg-Washington University match Sunday at 1 p.m.

The Warhawks' 19 wins in 2015 are a school record. The team has made five consecutive appearances in the NCAA Tournament, clinching an automatic bid this season after claiming the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament championship.
