Delafield's Krausert Tabbed WIAC Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete at UW-Whitewater

Carina Krausert, a native of Delafield, WI, and member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer team, has been named the recipient of the 2016 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Judy Kruckman Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete Award.

Krausert, a senior and graduate of Waukesha Catholic Memorial, is majoring in marketing with a minor in human resource management and maintains a 3.83 grade point average. She was named to the 2016 NCAA Division III Academic All-District? Six Women's Soccer First Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Krausert is a three-time member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll and been recognized on UW-Whitewater's Dean's List numerous semesters.

She was selected the WIAC Defensive Player of the Year this season to earn All-WIAC first team recognition for the second straight year. In 2015, Krausert added All-North Region second team recognition from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. She has helped UW-Whitewater secure three WIAC regular-season titles and three tournament crowns, while appearing in the NCAA Division III championship four straight years. A two-year team captain, Krausert received the Warhawk Award in 2015.

This past summer, Krausert was one of 200 student-athletes in the nation (all divisions) to attend the NCAA Career in Sports Forum. She is a member of UW-Whitewater's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and has volunteered with Reading With The Warhawks, Make A Difference Day, Polar Plunge for Special Olympics and Warhawk Soccer Camps. Krausert is also a representative of Warhawk Leadership Academy - currently serving as a Veteran Warhawk, Warhawk Outreach Coordinator, Alumni/Employer Relations Ambassador and a member of Captains' Council.

UW-Eau Claire's Jocelyn Etten (Sr., Elkhorn, Wis.) and UW-La Crosse's Nicole Blaser (Jr., Pewaukee, Wis.) were also nominated for this year's scholar-athlete award.

The WIAC Scholar-Athlete Award is named after Judy Kruckman who served as Assistant Commissioner for the WIAC from 1996-98. Prior to this appointment, she was Commissioner of the Wisconsin Women's Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WWIAC) from October 1984 - September 1996. Kruckman was the women's athletics director at UW-Eau Claire from 1974-84, and one of the original representatives to the WWIAC when it formed in 1971.

In order to be nominated for the scholar-athlete award, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.50 grade point average. In addition, she must be in her last year of competition, or on schedule to graduate this academic year, and have competed for a minimum of two years.
