Delafield's Krausert Named All-Region for UW-Whitewater Women's Soccer

2016 Nov 30

Carina Krausert, a native of Delafield, WI, and member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer team, was one of four Warhawks who were selected All-North Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Seniors Brianna Reid (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek) and Carina Krausert (Delafield, Wis./Catholic Memorial), along with junior Marie Lesperance (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha South), were named to the first team, while senior Carly Pottle (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) earned second team honors.

This is the fourth time Reid has earned all-region honors. She was a second team honoree in 2013 and 2014 and earned first team accolades last season. Krausert and Pottle are appearing on the all-region list for the second times in their careers. Last season Krausert was a second team honoree and Pottle was tabbed third team.

Reid, a four-time first team All-WIAC performer and three-time WIAC Offensive Player of the Year award winner, led the team with 14 goals this season, six game-winners. She also added six assists this season and became the school's all-time leading goal (61) and point scorer (140). Reid finishes her career as one of the most decorated players in program history.

Krausert, a captain for two seasons, was named WIAC Defensive Player of the Year after anchoring a Warhawk defense that held their opponents to just 16 goals while notching 14 shutouts. Krausert is a two-time All-WIAC selection and started 87 of 91 games in her career.

Lesperance makes her way on to the all-region team for the first time in her three seasons with the Warhawks. The two-time All-WIAC midfielder was tied for second on the team in goals (10) and tied for fourth in assists (4).

Pottle, a three time All-WIAC selection, was tied for second on the team this season in both goals (10) and assists (6). She finishes her Warhawk career with 86 starts in 92 games, 37 goals and 20 assists.

All four student-athletes were a large part of the Warhawks' success in 2016. The team finished with an overall record of 22-2, setting a school record for wins, and at one point won 21 games in a row, also a school record. UW-W reached the third round of the NCAA DIII Tournament for the third time in school history, won the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season title and the WIAC Tournament title.

Krausert is majoring in chemistry at UW-Whitewater.
