DeKalb's Wagner Named All-Region for UW-Whitewater Volleyball

2016 Nov 11

Courtney Wagner, a native of DeKalb, IL, and member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater volleyball team, was one of four Warhawks to earn American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III All-Midwest Region accolades for their performances during the 2016 season.

Senior setter Staci Hasler (Sheboygan Falls, Wis./Sheboygan Falls), junior right side hitter Sydney Racky (Walworth, Wis./Big Foot), junior middle hitter Courtney Wagner (DeKalb, Ill./DeKalb) and sophomore libero Brittany Robinson (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) were tabbed first team all-region. Hasler is now a two-year first team honoree.

In addition, Warhawks head coach Stacy Boudreau was selected Midwest Region Coach of the Year.

All five helped UW-Whitewater (28-6 overall) win the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season championship and claim the WIAC Tournament title. The Warhawks are also in the midst of their 25th consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division III Championship and are scheduled to host No. 18 Elmhurst (Ill.) in a second round contest Friday at 7 p.m. at Russell Arena.

Hasler currently leads the team ranks third in the conference with 1,109 assists (9.64 per set). She also ranks among team leaders in kills (143 / 1.24 per set), digs (235 / 2.04 per set), blocks (73 / 0.63 per set) and service aces (15). Hasler was named first team All-WIAC last week for the second time in her career.

Racky, an honorable mention All-WIAC pick, leads the league with a .298 hitting percentage, including an impressive .349 mark against regionally-ranked opponents entering the NCAA Tournament. She is third on the team with 298 kills (2.42 per set) and has 56 blocks (0.46 per set).

Wagner leads the WIAC with 139 blocks (1.12 per set / 1.23 vs. regionally ranked) and is second in hitting percentage (.294), and entered the week ranked ninth in NCAA Division III in blocks. The first team all-conference honoree ranks second on the team with 324 kills (2.61 per set).

Robinson is second in the league with 592 digs (4.77 per set) and third in service aces (50 / 0.40 per set). She is an honorable mention all-conference and WIAC All-Defensive Team selection in her second year as a starter.

Boudreau, who is in her 12th season at the helm of the program, has led UW-Whitewater to five WIAC championships, six conference tournament titles and 12 NCAA Tournament appearances, including the 2005 national championship.
