2017 Nov 8

Anna Boyd, a native of De Pere, WI, graduate of De Pere High School and member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer team, is one of four Warhawks who were tabbed All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference based on their performances during the 2017 season.

Senior midfielder Marie Lesperance (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha South), junior defenders Payton DeLuga(Algonquin, Ill./Dundee Crown) and Adria Schueler (Wales, Wis./Mukwonago) and freshman forward Anna Boyd each earned spots on the first team. Lesperance is now a three-time all-conference selection, while DeLuga has now earned All-WIAC honors twice.

All four players have helped the Warhawks to a 14-3-4 record, including a second-place finish in the conference with a 4-2-1 mark. UW-Whitewater will begin its seventh consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament this Friday at 1:30 p.m. against Hope (Mich.) at the University of Chicago.

Lesperance is tied for fourth on the team with 10 points, including four goals and two assists. Her three game-winning goals are tied for the team lead and tied for fourth in the conference, and were scored in Warhawk wins against Gustavus Adolphus (Sept. 1), Wittenberg (Sept. 16) and UW-Oshkosh (Nov. 2).

DeLuga and Schueler are each key members of the UW-Whitewater defense, which has allowed only 15 goals in 21 matches this season. The Warhawks enter the NCAA Tournament with 10 shutouts.

DeLuga has started all 21 of the team's matches, leading the team in minutes played (1,791) and collecting one goal and one assist for three points. Schueler has also started all 21 matches and enters Friday's contest with one goal and two assists for four points.

Boyd is among league leaders in several categories, including third in shots (66 / 3.14 per game), points (27) and goals (11) and tied for seventh in assists (5). She is also tied for fourth in the WIAC with three game-winning goals. Boyd is among the top two on the team in all categories.

Junior defender Lauren Otto (Richmond, Ill./Richmond Burton Community) was selected as the team's representative on the WIAC All-Sportsmanship Team.
