Dawson Miller Prepares for Cross Country Championships

Dawson Miller, a sophomore general management major from Whitewater, Wis., is preparing with the rest of his UW-Whitewater cross country team for the championship portion of the season.

"We are going ahead with the goal of trying to equal last year's 6th place performance," said Jeff Miller, head coach of the UW-Whitewater men's and women's cross country teams. "The men have only one senior running, so the team has a lot of young runners who are gaining valuable experience this season," he said. "Dawson Miller has led the team in each meet, but he, along with three other teammates, usually finish very close to one another," Miller said. "They try to race as a group during the early stages of the race, and then try to stay as close together as possible during the second half of the race."

The WIAC Conference meet in Cuba City will be held on Saturday, Oct. 27. The NCAA III Midwest regional in Oshkosh on Saturday, Nov. 10, will determine which teams and individuals move on to the national cross country meet in Terra Haute, Ind.
