Clarksville Native Lee Named Conference Scholar-Athlete at UW-Whitewater

Hannah Lee, a native of Clarksville, Tenn., and senior on the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater gymnastics team, has been selected as a co-recipient of the 2016 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Judy Kruckman Women's Gymnastics Scholar-Athlete Award. The award is sponsored by Badgerland Financial.

Lee, a graduate of Clarksville High School, is majoring in English with a minor in human services and boasts a 3.95 grade point average. She is a three-time NACGC/W Scholastic All-American and a three-time member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll. Lee has been acknowledged on UW-Whitewater's Dean's List numerous semesters and received academic scholarships. She was selected a Chancellor Scholar and Outstanding Junior in the College of Letters and Sciences.

Lee is a three-time all-conference selection, finishing third on the vault in 2013, second on the balance beam in 2014 and sixth on the balance beam in 2015. She was a member of UW-Whitewater's WIAC championship squads in 2013 and 2015, as well as the NCGA national title teams in 2013 and 2014. Lee was selected UW-Whitewater's Rookie of the Year in 2013.

Lee is a program coordinator for the Warhawk Leadership Academy, a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and President and Community Service Coordinator for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She is the co-founder and co-President of I AM THAT GIRL UW-Whitewater chapter.

The WIAC Scholar-Athlete Award is named after Judy Kruckman who served as Assistant Commissioner for the WIAC from 1996-98. Prior to this appointment, she was Commissioner of the Wisconsin Women's Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WWIAC) from October, 1984 - September, 1996. Kruckman was the women's athletics director at UW-Eau Claire from 1974-84, and one of the original representatives to the WWIAC when it formed in 1971.

In order to be nominated for the scholar-athlete award, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.50 grade point average. In addition, she must be in her last year of competition, or on schedule to graduate this academic year, and have competed for a minimum of two years.
