Cara Smoczynski wins WIAC title with Warhawk softball

Cara Smoczynski, a freshman elementary education major from Aurora, Ill., helped the UW-Whitewater softball team defeat UW-La Crosse 5-1 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament championship on May 4 in Menomonie.

This is the Warhawk's ninth WIAC championship in program history and fifth tournament championship.

The team advanced to the NCAA Division III Super Regional hosted by Illinois Wesleyan May, 16-17.
