Cameron Laktash makes UW-Whitewater men's tennis team

2013 Sep 26

Cameron Laktash, a sophomore physical education major from Crystal Lake, Ill., has made the 2013-14 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's tennis team.

Even with 12 new members, the team has already managed to strongly come together. The team won six of eleven flights at the Art Peterson Invite in Macomb, Ill., on Sept. 6, beating out several Division I universities.

"These new players and returning players have really stepped up so far," said Frank Barnes, head coach. "This program is one where students are transferring from Division I schools to play on a winning team, and we plan on continuing that trend."

When the players are not on the field, they are giving back to the community. The UW-Whitewater men's tennis team participates in Reading with the Warhawks, a program where players read to elementary school children; Polar Plunge for Special Olympics; Make A Difference Day; and free tennis training camps for middle school students.
