Brookfield's Mierow Earns All-Conference for UW-Whitewater Gymnastics

Kate Mierow, a native of Brookfield, WI, and graduate of Brookfield Central High School, is one of seven members of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater gymnastics team to earn All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference accolades based on their performance at the WIAC/National Collegiate Gymnastics Association West Regional Championship (Presented by Culver's) at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn.

UW-Whitewater posted a season-high score of 191.725, only one-tenth shy of UW-La Crosse and the No. 8 score in the program's record book. The team's runner-up finish was its 10th straight among the top two at the meet.

Senior Kate Mierow (Brookfield, WI/Brookfield Central) and junior Franchesca Hutton (Shakopee, Minn./Main Street School of Performing Arts) each claimed individual championships. Hutton won the balance beam with a 9.750, tied for the fifth-highest score in program history, while Mierow tied for first in the floor exercise with a 9.750, tied for the No. 22 score in the team's record book.

Senior Chloe Rehberg (Cary, IL/Cary-Grove) tied for second on vault with a 9.725, tied for the 18th best score in program history. O'Donnell, junior Erika Briscoe (Solon, Iowa/Solon) and sophomore Lauren Marshall (Winthrop Harbor, Ill./Zion-Benton Township) all tied for sixth with matching scores of 9.600 to claim All-WIAC honors.

O'Donnell led the Warhawks and tied for fifth on the uneven parallel bars with a 9.675. On beam, Fossum (9.675) and Mierow (9.650) joined Hutton on the All-WIAC podium by tying for fourth place and tying for sixth place, respectively.

Hutton finished fourth in the floor exercise with a 9.650 to claim her spot at the NCGA Individual Event Finals, and O'Donnell tied for fifth with a 9.625.

O'Donnell placed third in the all-around competition with a 37.750.

UW-Whitewater's team score of 47.925 on vault tied for the 11th-highest in program history. The team also registered all-time top scores of 47.875 on bars (12th), 47.825 on beam (eighth) and 48.200 on floor (T-12th).

Following the meet, Rehberg was named to the WIAC All-Sportsmanship Team. Mierow was recognized as a nominee for the WIAC Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete in Gymnastics.
