2014 Nov 11

Brianna Reid, a student-athlete with the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer program and native of Oak Creek, has earned All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference recognition.

Brianna Reid was named the league's Offensive Player of the Year. Sarah Sedlar was selected as the WIAC Defensive Player of the Year. Head Coach Ryan Quamme was named the conference Coach of the Year. Kelsey Beld was selected as UW-Whitewater's representative on the All-Sportsmanship Team and co-recipient of the WIAC Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award. First Team All-WIAC honorees include Reid, Sedlar, Jordan Myers, Carly Pottle and Jenna Woodson.

Reid, a sophomore forward, is the fourth consecutive Warhawk to be selected as the league's Offensive Player of the Year following three-time Player of the Year Emily Gerber (2011-12), Christina Tooren (2012-13) and Jenna Woodson (2013-14). Reid leads the league's top scoring offense with 14 goals, averaging 0.67 per game. Her five game winning goals is the most by any player in the conference and she is tied for the top of the WIAC standings in points with 31, an average of 1.48 per game.

Sedlar, a senior midfielder, is the first Warhawk to garner Defensive Player of the Year honors since the WIAC began awarding both offensive and defensive recognition in 2011. Sedlar has started all 21 games for UW-Whitewater this season and has recorded 1,535 minutes on the field. She leads the WIAC's top defensive squad allowing just 0.48 goals per game. Sedlar has helped UW-Whitewater record 12 shutouts, tied for the most in the league. She has also gotten in on the offensive action with two goals, one a game-winner, and an assist.

This is Coach Quamme's third consecutive conference Coach of the Year honor. In three seasons at the helm for the Warhawks, Quamme has a perfect 24-0-0 regular season WIAC record, three conference championships and two tournament championships. He has led UW-Whitewater to an 18-3-0 record this season bringing his career total to 51-9-5, a win percentage of .785.

Myers, UW-Whitewater's senior goalkeeper, notched her third straight First Team All-WIAC honor this season. She has started every game and compiled 1,812 minutes in goal for the Warhawks in 2014, nearly 300 more minutes than any other goalie in the league. In 21 games she has allowed just 10 goals, made 71 saves and recorded 10 shutouts, the most in the WIAC. In her four-year career, Myers has 32 career shutouts, the most in UW-Whitewater history and third most in the conference record books. Her 346 career saves is just 10 shy of the top mark in Warhawk history.

Pottle, a sophomore, has started 19 of 21 games at the forward position for the Warhawks. In over 1,000 minutes on the field, Pottle has scored eight goals, second most on the team, including three game-winners. She has assisted on four goals compiling 40 points this season, second most on the team. Pottle is ranked in the top five of the WIAC individual statistics in points, points per game, goals, goals per game, and game-winning goals.

Woodson, a junior midfielder, earned first team recognition for the third consecutive season this year. The 2013 Offensive Player of the Year, started all 21 games for the Warhawk this season.
