Bolingbrook's Hasty Named to D3football.com National Team of the Week at UW-Whitewater

2016 Oct 11

Famus Hasty, a native of Bolingbrook, Ill., and member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater football team, has been named to the D3football.com National Team of the Week for games on October 7-8.

Hasty, who also garnered Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week accolades, led the Warhawks with nine tackles and a pair of forced fumbles in the team's 17-14 victory over fifth-ranked UW-Oshkosh in front of an NCAA Division III record crowd of 17,535 at Perkins Stadium.

Hasty, a sophomore defensive back and graduate of Neuqua Valley High School, forced fumbles on consecutive drives in the second quarter to thwart Titan drives deep in UW-Whitewater territory.

On first down from the Warhawks' 33-yard line with 9:09 to play, Hasty stripped Devon Linzenmeyer inside the 15-yard line, and senior defensive back Vince Mason recovered the loose ball.

On UW-Oshkosh's next drive, Hasty forced another fumble on a running play and recovered at the UW-Whitewater 6-yard line with 2:41 remaining in the first half.

Hasty is the Warhawks' third D3football.com Team of the Week honoree this season. Senior defensive back Colin Buck and sophomore running back Drew Patterson were named to the team following UW-Whitewater's 59-13 win over Belhaven (Miss.) on Sept. 10.

The Warhawks (5-0 overall, 2-0 WIAC), who are ranked second in the nation by both D3football.com and the American Football Coaches Association, visit UW-La Crosse this Saturday at 1 p.m.

Hasty is majoring in Physical Education at UW-Whitewater.
