Ashley Brouwer to stage UW-Whitewater production of "1959 Pink Thunderbird" on Dec. 5-9

2017 Nov 27

Ashley Brouwer, from Delavan, Wis., is among the students from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater who will stage production of "1959 Pink Thunderbird" at the Barnett Theatre on Tuesday, Dec. 5 through Friday, Dec. 8 at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, Dec. 9, at 2 p.m.

"It's a great night of comic theatre. The writing is character and situational based and delivers some spectacular zingers," said director Kymberly Mellen, assistant professor in the Theatre/Dance Department. "If you can relate to small town country life, hanging out on porches and in bars with friends you've had since high school, the restlessness of individuals who have returned from combat; if things you've seen or done prevent sound sleep and weight on your conscience; if petty gossip and jealousy trap you in your circumstances; if you self-medicate rather than thinking of a proactive plan to improve your life - then this is a play you can relate to."

Brouwer, who is studying general management and theatre at UW-Whitewater, serves as understudy for Elizabeth Caulder in the production.

Tickets are available at the Greenhill Center Box Office Monday-Friday 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. or by phone at 262-472-2222. Tickets may also be purchased the night of the performance, beginning one hour prior to curtain. Single tickets for this performance are: General Admission $12, over 65 $10, Under 18 $7.50, and UW-Whitewater students with valid ID $5.50. This show contains strong language which may be unsuitable for children.
