Arlington Heights Native Lotzer of UW-Whitewater Swimming and Diving Named All-WIAC

2015 Feb 23

Margaret Lotzer, a elementary education major and member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater swimming and diving program, earned All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors over the weekend at the 2015 WIAC Swimming & Diving Championships at Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center.

Lotzer, a Arlington Heights, IL, native, helped the Warhawks place among the top three in the conference.

The women finished as runner-up in the meet to post their highest league finish in program history.

The men placed third, and sophomore Josh Kanute was named WIAC Swimmer of the Meet after winning three individual events and finishing first as a part of two relays. He claimed four school records and two WIAC Championship records, including a 15-year-old mark in the 500-yard freestyle set by former John Borta, one of the most decorated athletes in UW-Whitewater men's swimming and diving history, in 2000.

In addition, Warhawks coach Joel Rollings was selected WIAC Coach of the Year for both the men's and women's sides, becoming the first coach since 2010-11 to receive both awards in the same season. Rollings, who is in his ninth year as head coach at UW-Whitewater, is now a four-time conference coach of the year.
