Appleton's Witt Earns All-WIAC Men's Track and Field Honors at UW-Whitewater

2017 Mar 2

Parker Witt, a native of Appleton, WI, and graduate of Appleton North High School, was one of six members of the No. 2 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's track and field team to garner All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference accolades after posting top-three finishes at last weekend's WIAC Indoor Championships.

It was an impressive championship Saturday for junior Parker Witt (Appleton, Wis./Appleton North), who won two WIAC indoor individual titles in the 60 meter dash and the 200 meter dash. In the 60 meters, Witt ran a new career-best time of 6.75, tying the WIAC meet record. Approximately one hour later, Witt defended his title in the 200 meter dash in a season's best time of 21.76. Witt's strong day puts him at No. 1 in Division III in the 200 meter dash and No. 2 in Division III in the 60 meter dash.

Also leading the way for the Warhawks on Saturday were freshman Christian Jackson (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa West), senior Levi Perry (East Moline, Ill./United Township), and senior DuVaun Goodlow (Plainfield, Ill./Central), who each earned their first WIAC indoor individual titles.

Jackson won the 60 meter hurdles in a big new career-best of 8.18, a time that vaults him in to the top ten in Division III. Perry won the weight throw with a throw of 61-09.5 (18.83 meters), and he still owns a mark that leads all of Division III. Goodlow won the high jump, tying his career-best with a leap of 6-09.25 (2.07 meters). The Warhawks earned a total of 18 points in the high jump thanks to a runner-up finish by junior Cameron Magee (Richland Center, Wis./Ithaca), who posted a second team All-WIAC performance with a season's best jump of 6-09.25 (2.07 meters). Both Goodlow and Magee are ranked among the top 10 in Division III in the high jump.

The Warhawks are scheduled to compete in three last chance meets this weekend before starting competition at the two-day NCAA Division III Indoor Championships on March 10 at North Central College in Naperville, Ill.
