Appleton's Witt Earns All-WIAC Honors for UW-Whitewater Track and Field

Parker Witt, a native of Appleton, WI, graduate of Appleton North High School and member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater track and field program, was one of 19 Warhawks to earn all-conference honors by virtue of their performances at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships Presented by Culver's last Friday and Saturday at UW-Platteville.

The Warhawk men, currently ranked third in the nation by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, placed second at the meet, while the women, who are ranked 10th in the country, finished fourth.

Men

Juniors Parker Witt (Appleton, Wis./Appleton North) and Theron Baumann (Monona Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) each won two WIAC titles.

Witt won the 100 meter dash in 10.60 and later came back to win the 200 meter dash in 20.99, setting a new career-best time, resetting his own school record, and improving on his No. 1 time in Division III in the event.



Baumann won WIAC titles in both the discus throw and the shot put on Saturday. In the discus, he won his second consecutive title with a mark of 165-06 (50.44 meters). Baumann still owns the No. 1 mark in Division III in the event. In the shot put, he won with a mark of 55-06.50 (16.93 meters), and Baumann still owns the No. 3 mark in Division III in that event. Freshman Julio Perez (Watertown, Wis./Kettle Moraine) finished third in the same two events, posting a 158-11 (48.43 meters) in the discus and a career-best 52-04.75 (15.97 meters) in the shot put. Perez currently ranks 11th in the discus in NCAA Division III.



Freshman Christian Jackson (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa West) placed second in the 110 meter hurdles with a new career-best time of 14.57, which is a top 15 time in Division III.

Junior Cameron Magee (Richland Center, Wis./Ithaca) placed second in the high jump with a leap of 6-09.50 (2.07 meters), which puts him in to the top ten in Division III in the event. Additionally, junior Chanler Leonard (Dodgeville, Wis./Dodgeville/Mineral Point) placed third with a jump of 6-07.50 (2.02 meters).

In the triple jump, Matt Green (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago) and senior Grant Loess (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North) finished second and third with leaps of 46-02 (14.07 meters) and 45-09.75 (13.96 meters), respectively, both career-best marks.

Junior Brett Harms (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater) claimed his first WIAC title in the 3,000 meter steeplechase in a time of 9:06.48, a new UW-Platteville facility record. Harms is currently ranked No. 4 in Division III in the event.



Senior Levi Perry (East Moline, Ill./United Township) placed second in the hammer throw with a mark of 183-03 (55.86 meters), senior Jack Bullis (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater) placed third in the javelin throw with a mark of 173-03 (52.80 meters), and freshman Zach Jasinski (Sussex, Wis./Hamilton) finished third in the pole vault with his mark of 15-07 (4.75 meters).

Women

Senior Meredith Porter (Hales Corners, Wis./Whitnall), senior Leah Richter (Fond du Lac, Wis./Fond du Lac) and sophomore Celeste Madda (Crystal Lake, Ill./Central) each won a WIAC title to lead the Warhawk women's team. Porter won the 400 meter hurdle title in 1:00.44, after setting a new WIAC meet record in the prelims on Friday (59.60). Her time set Friday currently puts her at No. 2 in Division III. Madda won the 100 meter dash title in 12.13, and then went on to take second in the 200 meter dash in 24.70. Madda set career-best times in both events in the prelims on Friday, and is ranked in the top 15 in Division III in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes. Madda was also named to the Larry Zirgibel WIAC All-Sportsmanship Team. Richter's championship pole vault mark of 11-09.25 (3.59 meters) is a new outdoor career best.



Also helping to propel the Warhawk women to their fourth place finish was senior Genny Rose Stringer (Assumption, Ill./Assumption), who placed second in the discus throw with a mark of 154-04 (47.05 meters) and still owns the No. 1 mark in Division III in the event, and the 4x100 relay squad of junior Chelsie Bence (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc), Madda, sophomore Abbie Felton (Burlington, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran), and Porter, who placed third in 47.39, a time that vaults them to No. 11 in Division III in the event.



Felton also placed third in the 400-meter dash in 57.04.

In the hammer throw, senior Amanda Strupp (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) placed third with a mark of 165-09 (50.53 meters).
