Algonquin's Deluga Collects All-America Honor for UW-Whitewater Women's Soccer
2017 Dec 1
Payton Deluga, a native of Algonquin, Ill., graduate of Dundee Crown High School and junior on the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer team, has been named a third team All-American by the United Soccer Coaches.
DeLuga, a defender, is the Warhawks' sixth All-American in program history. She was one of 46 players in NCAA Division III and one of only three from the state to earn All-America accolades.
DeLuga started all 22 games for UW-Whitewater, helping the team finish with a 14-4-4 record and the program's seventh consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament. She played 1,881 minutes on the season, more than any other Warhawk.
DeLuga helped UW-Whitewater allow only 16 goals for the season, tied for the second-fewest in one season in program history. She added one goal and one assist for three points and attempted 10 shots.
The Warhawks have now garnered eight All-America honors in the last seven seasons.
