Alexandria Zamecnik elected Whitewater Student Government senator

2014 Feb 11

Alexandria Zamecnik, a sophomore political science major from Beloit, Wis. , has been elected as a senator with the Whitewater Student Government (WSG).

WSG is responsible for governing nearly 12,000 students who attend UW-Whitewater. Its role is to actively assess and serve the needs of UW-Whitewater students by providing an open forum atmosphere, as well as bridging the gap between students, student leaders and campus administration.

"It's a great opportunity to become well-connected with individuals on campus and in the community," said Justin Murphy, president of WSG. "Issues are resolved quickly when brought to WSG, showing the senate's commitment to advancing student life at UW-Whitewater."

WSG senators serve on university committees, hold office hours and help develop student policies, ensuring that the rights of UW-Whitewater students are protected.

"Being a WSG senator is the best outlet to take positive action to improve the student body," Murphy said. "With great motivation comes great change, and I believe this change can be accomplished with a dedicated senate and the will to make campus a better place to live and learn."
